There is something soul warming about banana pancakes. I remember mom making these when I was my son’s age. It’s a great way to start the day !
If the men of the house had their way we would have bacon, sausage and a side of bacon for breakfast every day and run around like cavemen. For me breakfast is the zen of the day, the few moments of peace before we jump into chaos. There is something magical about listening to Jack Johnson (of course the banana pancake song) while making a mess of the kitchen with my littlest helper. Of course the four legged one is right underfoot just in case something drops.
I’m not sure what part of the JJ song I like the best. The fact that he sings about food from my childhood or that he says the words that my hubby teased me about for years. “Wake Up Slow”. When we first heard the song years ago I was able to do a happy dance around the kitchen because someone else understood waking up slow. Now with a three year old running around there is no waking up slow, it’s more like I am sleeping in a toaster and pop out of bed.
