Let’s live in a camper while we build the house….what fun it will be !!
Feeling a bit nostalgic as the camper pulled off our property with it’s new owners. It doesn’t seem like a year ago that the pilot said …”you know if we lived at the property when we build it will be nicer.” and of course being the ever supporting spouse I agreed and added ….”oh and how much fun will it be cooking outside all summer!”
You know what all the “tiny home” hype blasting the internet doesn’t tell you….Small space living sucks! Ok, it wasn’t all bad, there were some great memories. Like the random blizzard that hit the end of June and we found out the heater didn’t work..of course the pilot was flying that day. Or the weeks and weeks of rain…and a wet dog ….and a toddler who was tired of being cooped up. Who knew a small space could smell so badly of wet dog and toddler funk. Yeah we all know that toddlers come with their own funk. I can’t forget the hurling in the tiny restroom or having to pee every five minutes being pregnant in a small space oh joy!
The funny thing, I wouldn’t trade any of it in for the world. The entire summer I saw the magic of life in little Alaska’s eyes (aka the toddler). He would tell us every day what a “cool house” we were living in. He thought that the couch folding into a bed was the best thing….even cooler when we had guests and he got to sleep on the table (yes it was folded down into a bed)
Things I Loved about close living…. ummm being part of a family that actually talked. There were no electronics and limited toys and gadgets. We spent time together. Going fishing and hiking all the time. Little Alaska even caught his first fish on a pole.(versus the netting we did in bush Alaska)

And even though after a few months my menu kind of sucked cooking outside is a blast. It was like camping every day …oh wait that’s kind of what we were doing ….

We also got to work together to build our forever…….garage.. (that’s a whole different story)

I guess a long story short. Living in a camper can be a blast ….not for a long amount of time though. And really not as cool while you’re as big as a whale and have the balance of an elephant on skates.
